We’ll pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and take you to Bajo de las Sombras port, where you’ll board a boat for a 20-minute crossing of Brazo Rico.
Once on the far shore, you’ll receive an introduction to the day’s adventure. After a gear check, you’ll be fitted with crampons, with assistance from one of the expert mountain guides.
The trek begins with a scenic 90-minute hike up the moraine, leading to the glacier access point. From here, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the immense ice field.
As you make your way across the glacier, you’ll learn about its fascinating natural dynamics, encountering dazzling blue lagoons, deep crevasses, and towering ice formations. Experienced mountain guides accompany you throughout, ensuring both safety and an enriching experience.
The glacier trek lasts over three hours, with a break at a picturesque spot chosen by the guides for lunch.
After this unforgettable journey on the ice, you’ll return to the moraine and begin the descent back to the port. Before disembarking, the boat will navigate close to the glacier’s towering walls, giving you one more chance to take in its sheer scale and beauty.
The excursion also includes a visit to the walkways, where you’ll have about an hour to admire the glacier from various angles (your guide will confirm whether this takes place before or after the ice trek).
After a full day of adventure, you’ll return to El Calafate in the comfort of a transfer.
